"Today" - Tuesday August 5, 2025

“Today”

The word “today” is mentioned over 200 times in the Bible. “Today” underscores the significance of the present moment in relation to God’s will and promises. Obviously, I won’t list every verse using the word, but have randomly selected a few that may remind you of the precious gift God gives each one of us identified as “Today!”

  • “These commandments I give to you TODAY are to be on your hearts” (Deuteronomy 6:6.
  • “For unto you this DAY in the city of David a Savior is born for all people” (Luke 2:11).
  • “In the day of my Savior, I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you: I tell you now is the time of God’s favor, TODAY is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
  • “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, TODAY, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
  • “Choose this DAY, whom you will serve, if baal be god serve him, but if God be God, serve Him” (Joshua 24:15).
  • “God provided the Israelites manna, EVERY MORNING while they were in the wilderness” (Exodus 16:4-5).
  • “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end, they are new EVERY MORNING” (Lamentations 3:22-23).
  • “And my God shall supply all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

These verses were randomly selected, and you’ll think of others. But the objective is this: TODAY is the most important day of your life. You’ll NEVER get the moments of this day back. God provides you with the opportunity to serve yourself or to serve Him and others. Who might you be able to put a smile on their face? Who might you offer hope? Who can you encourage and restore self-esteem and confidence? Is there someone you need to forgive or to accept their apology?  What needs to be done in restoring a relationship that you’ve been neglecting to do? What are you hanging onto, that if submitted to God, would set you free?

What will you allow the Lord to show you TODAY that will help you become the person He wants you to be? There is no better time than the present. TODAY could be the turning point of your life! God will help if you’ll let Him!
