"A Light for Your Path" - Tuesday May 20, 2025

“A Light for Your Path”

It’s difficult to find our way in the dark. Sin is darkness and people living away form God rarely realize the error of their way because they are lost and can’t see a better way. That’s what Satan does to us. He blinds our eyes to light and distorts the mind so thoroughly we convince ourselves living a life without God is okay. Satan is a deceiver and liar whose desire is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) those who do not listen to and obey the voice of God.

Without the help of the Holy Spirit abiding within us, it’s easy to get confused not only on how to live our life, but to discern right from wrong. Sin is appealing and appears harmless. It’s like bait thrown in the water to catch a fish. When the bait is taken the fish is caught and when snared by Satan’s deception, an individuals’  life could be destroyed.

Jesus said, “I am the Light of the world, he that follows me will never walk in darkness but have the light of life” (John 8:12). Physically we use a flashlight when walking at night or entering a darkened room with no lights. We know without lighting we could stumble and fall bringing an injury or worse. Walking in spiritual darkness will eventually lead to separation from God and pain for ourselves and others. Thank God, we can choose a better way. It’s the power and authority of God’s Word.

The Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). When our way is especially dark, it’s a floodlight. When we need God’s comforting presence, it’s a lamp on the table. When we have a dreary day, it’s our sunshine. When we need guidance, it’s our beacon. When we need courage, it’s our torch. When we share it with others, it’s a lighthouse. When we spend time in it, we ourselves become radiant.

Proverbs 6:23 says, “For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is a light.” Just as the Israelites gathered manna each day, we need the nourishment of daily bread for the soul. What a privilege to have the very words of God Himself spread out before us in a book small enough to hold in our hands. From it’s 31,102 verses, you’ll find illumination for every moment of every day. If you aren’t a faithful reader of God’s Word, let today be the start. By obeying its teachings, your life will be changed forever. You’ll soon discover IT IS LIGHT amidst the darkness.
