“God’s Praying for You”
I recently received a letter from an individual desiring to share his personal testimony. This individual had obviously gone through a very, very dark period in his life. During that time, a few friends reached out by sending devotionals and annual Bible reading plans. Over the course of time, he actually read through God’s Word five times. One can learn a lot when spending that much time with the Lord.
Despite his past, this man came to realize that God still loved him and while others may have given up on him, the Lord had not. By God’s grace and faithfulness, the Holy Spirit drew this individual to the Savior and repentance was made. Without a clue as to what the future might hold, he received a peace never before experienced and as the Bible says, “A peace that passes all understanding.”
The thing that stood out to me was this man’s reference to John 17:20-26. He had read this passage many times before, but then the Holy Spirit spoke and made him understand God was not just praying for others, but for him also. The passage was typed out in his letter and in 12 different places the emphasis on other people was replaced with his name. Now it became personal. He truly felt God was praying for him specifically and this is what led to his salvation and NEW LIFE IN CHRIST! His sins have been forgiven. He’s living a life of confidence walking each day with Jesus.
This letter was shared with me because he felt it possible there would be someone that’s hurting, feeling alone, rejected, and without hope might be encouraged not only by his testimony, but also realizing God is also praying for them. Satan tried to destroy this man’s life, family, reputation, and future. Through all the muckiness of failing because of sin, God gave him the glorious hope and understanding that “Failing doesn’t make you a failure.”
I challenge anyone going through turbulent times to read out loud the scripture mentioned above and where applicable say your name. Wherever you are, whatever you’ve done, despite what others think or say, there’s room at the Cross for you. There may be heavy consequences to pay, but a NEW LIFE IN CHRIST is available for you. God hasn’t turned His back, nor forsaken you, and I believe actually remembers you in His prayers.
